Uncharted Audio

Cursor Miner’s fourth studio album “Requires Attention” will be unleashed by Uncharted Audio this autumn and is his most coherent and accomplished record yet. Featuring the singles "Mad Cow" (which spent 2 weeks on the DMC Update chart) and "Luna" (currently picking up radio play from Nick Luscombe, John Kennedy (XFM) and more), it combines everything that is good and great about Cursor Miner, which is basically just about everything.

As a child Rob Tubb aka Cursor Miner would spend hours making tapes full of stupid comedy sketches, home made sound effects and “electronic” music recorded off Ceefax. Many years later little has changed but for the technology. Cursor’s music career proper started off rocking out on guitar in a band at school, but on moving to London was influenced by the sounds of Acid and Techno, his productions started moving away from guitar and onto drum machines and computers whilst keeping the distortion pedals in full effect.

In the late 90s Miner’s first computer based creations (made by effecting and cutting and pasting sine waves, a basic sample editor being the only software available to him at the time) came to the attention of esteemed techno funk pioneer Si Begg, who released a number of tracks on his Noodles compilation "The Death of Cool". At around this time his long time friend Kone-R <http://unchartedaudio.com/artists/kone-r/>  kicked off his label Uncharted Audio by releasing a Cursor Miner EP “thismansadventure <http://unchartedaudio.com/releases/cursor-miner-thismansadventure/> ”.

Cursor’s first album “Explosive Piece of Mind” was released on Lo Recordings  in 2002 to critical acclaim. A wild mixture of Beck, Bowie and Depeche Mode style songwriting, twisted beats and Autechre style noise excursions, this album bridged the divide between the dancefloor and the messed up innards of Tubb’s own mind. Cursor then scored a viral hit with librarians the world over with the catchy track “Library <http://unchartedaudio.com/releases/cursor-miner-library/> ”. Released alongside a cheeky little animation this managed to be viewed by over 50,000 librarians. The next two albums traced a trajectory from quirky pop songs like “I Want to be a Foetus” to the dancefloor stormers such as “The Sport of Kings” and "Hair of the Dog”, the latter two getting dropped, charted and bigged up by DJs such as Andy Weatherall, Alter Ego, Dave Clarke, The Advent, Laurent Garnier and Mark Moore.

Cursor’s legendary live sets at mega-raves such as Bloc Weekender, Glade and Sonar have made many punters sweat over 8 litres a second and started a clubbing craze for wearing goggles, LEDs, green pants, tank tops and protective knee and elbow pads. Well, not really but we can only hope. Cursor Miner has been seen shouting into his distorted vintage microphone all over Europe; in Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Hungary, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Russia and more.

You’ve seen the outfit. You’ve heard the scandalous rumours. You’ve landed the jump jet in tricky conditions. NOW HEAR THE ALBUM. Cursor Miner returns with a brand new load of sonic hassle. It’s heavier than metal. It’s beefier than a bullfight and it’s more original than the first ever thing EVER.

Yes literally if you own this music you will be part of the new and better smelling era. You’ll be so cutting edge you’ll get a research grant, normal people will look at you in utter revulsion and say “what’s that horrible noise?” and “it’s doing my head in”... and you’ll say... “Get with the program – "Cursor Miner Requires Attention"" is the absolute boomba klart”… YES. That’s really what you’ll say!

Yes people, a huge amount of money has been lavished on this album, if by “lavished” you mean WASTED! Which is what you’ll be when listening to the indescribable levels of COSMIC SPAZZFUNK. This album used LOTS of posh software, a LOT OF ELECTRICITY, many parts of things, TECHNICAL things, stuff that you couldn’t POSSIBLY understand. A laptop made in a VOLCANO, with a monitor made of GRANITE and a mouse made of GAS!!! A drum machine that runs on RAILS, a synthesiser powered by PLUTONIUM APPLES... These are just some of the TWISTED NEW SCHOOL wing wangs that the GENIUS Cursor Miner uses to create THE STUPIDEST NOISES IN THE WORLD^TM. It’s at least 20% BETTER than the last Cursor Miner album , as measured by albumgoodnesstest.com, which is a newly invented software that tells you how GOOD something is.

Now I demand to know what the hell you’re doing sitting there not listening to CURSOR MINER REQUIRES ATTENTION!!

Milk Factory: "Playful gems of sonic distortion and chaotic electronica, which would make Aphex Twin and Squarepusher <http://www.themilkfactory.co.uk/reviews/squarepusher_summary.htm>  terribly jealous... armed with intelligent beats and deconstructed, yet incredibly catchy melodies"
