The Squire of Gothos make the most incredibly twisted music possible. With no regard to tradition yet a heavy splicing and mangling of genres old and new, their final sound is totally unique. In short its ‘mutant bassline rave for the 21st century’. The Squires generate the sickest and most insane basslines known to man and weave them around basterdised elements of hardcore, dubstep, jungle and techno.

One smoky night in the back of a Sheffield nightclub two heads met for the first time and became friends. They both had a shared love for music and getting as wasted as possible. They began spending time together, sharing ideas and making music. The two scruffy lads were Big Al and Tich and everything from hip-hop to grindcore to DnB was produced in the insane first year they spent living together.

One hung-over morning Big Al was watching an old episode of Star Trek entitled 'The Squire Of Gothos' which became the basis for a new musical project. They began working on speed garage tunes but other influences ended up creeping in. The first few tunes were very sloppy but they were slipped into DJ sets at house parties and illegal raves. The lads were surprised at the reaction these tunes were getting so they began working on sets comprised entirely of these bouncy new tunes.

From their Sheffield base, a city renowned for its ground breaking music, they’ve had an astronomic rise in the last 2 years taking their revered live set around the festival and club circuit both in the UK and abroad, taking in the likes of Bangface, Glade, Spamfritter, Overkill and ZXZW Holland to name a few. They’ve also been notching up a fine roster of EPs for the likes of Coin Operated, Tigerbeat6, R8, Electrostimulation and a whole slew of remixes for Trouble & Bass, Kid 606 Bruce Stallion, B. Rich and more which has seen their music receive support from Starkey, Raffertie, Kanji Kinetic, Drop The Lime, Warlock, Noyeahno, Kid 606, and Jerome Hill.

‘We Do Scorpion Things’ is the pair’s debut album on the suitably dark and twisted Rag & Bone imprint. Catch the Squire’s mutant sound live at the following:
