Tesla Boy are the hottest band to come out of Russia since... well, probably ever! Already featured on the cover of Russia’s ‘In Style’ magazine and further featured in their home versions of GQ and Cosmopolitan, the electro-pop trio have garnered a massive following across Europe which is now knocking at the door of Blighty, with the Metro newspaper featuring them as ‘Ones To Watch’ in September of last year.

Tesla Boy are in fact a muscovite gang of three: spiky quiffed vocalist/keyboardist Anton Sevidov backed by drumming/bass playing buddies Boris Lifshits and Dima Midborn. They teased us in 2009 with two spectacular EPs but that was just the appetiser. It’s now 2010 and the main course, 'Modern Thrills' is ready to be served.

It’s the album they had to make; it’s the album that only they could make. Consolidating their position as the greatest pop band in the world today. They may well be the music industry’s best-kept secret outside of their native Russia but 'Modern Thrills' sees them set to tear through the iron curtain and into a Western World salivating for their synth-pop banquet.

There is no cashing in on the eighties revival. There is no cynical marketing to target demographics. This is Tesla Boy. This is what they do. They make 100% distilled pop music direct from their soul. Yes, fans of 80s Synth Pop/New Wave are in for a real treat but Tesla Boy aren't necessarily all about retro... oh no! Lovers of contemporary bands such as Cut Copy, Hot Chip, Phoenix, Valerie and Anoraak will also approve of Tesla Boy's incredible modernistic sound.

On ‘Modern Thrills’ they still deliver the thumping dance-floor fillers that got you moving before but they also pull it back with touching and emotive performances like the heart-string wrenchingly beautiful ‘Speed Of Light’ - a track that penetrates deeper into your conscience on every single play. Rarely can a band make such strong bonds with mind, body and soul in their work.

Elsewhere their neon lights shine upon 'Thinking Of You' - it's beats will move your feet whilst the sweeping synths will tickle your endorphins into life. Their boundless potential and maturing sound is never more perfectly realised than on the haunting love song 'Rebecca' - which substitutes euphoria for poignant as it soundtracks a million love-story showreels in your mind. It’s an album that plays end-to-end perfectly with a well constructed and thought through track listing but also every track has hit-single written all over it. Punch the random play button and you are guaranteed a classic.

Tesla Boy are a young and good looking band ready to soundtrack your life and adorn heavily postered teenage walls. If Smash Hits was still going, Tesla Boy would be on the front cover every week! In our opinion this is what modern day pop music should be all about, combining the vibes of your favourite 80s pop songs with the sounds of today... simply mind blowingly good.
